Dynamo-SketchUp: Sending Geometric Information

Locked into Revit with some model information you are trying to preview in SketchUp?

No problem! We have a simple solution using a 3 step process.
1. Retrieve the Revit geometry using Dynamo
2. Send the geometry to Flux using the Flux Plugin for Dynamo
3. Receive the geometry in SketchUp

Once it’s set up, here’s how it works.

1. Retrieve the Revit geometry using Dynamo
a. Open and select the Revit model you are interested in. In this example, we’re using the beginning of a parking layout.
b. Open Dynamo and use the ‘Select Model Elements’ and ‘Element.Geometry’ to recover the instances and their associated geometry.

2. Send the geometry to Flux using the Flux Plugin for Dynamo
Use the blocks provided in the Flux Plugin for Dynamo to send the information to Flux in your custom Project, i.e. ‘Flux Project’, ‘Flow Control’ and ‘Send to Flux’

3. Receive the geometry in SketchUp
In SketchUp, click on the ‘Receive from Flux’ button in the Flux control bar. Choose the appropriate project, data key & layer. Hit Receive and the information should appear within seconds!
